The Natural Tendency Paradox

April 02, 2008

Some time age I had a conversation with a friend of mine who claims there’s no way will one be a winner in the long run and how his computer simulation model has proven it. Many people know the Law of Large numbers, Random Walk, etc., and how the vig ties into that. However, based on observations, I don’t believe laws of Large numbers are something that can be evaluated during a few visits or over a 1-2 hours of play. You must be aware that you’ll hit lucky streaks, unlucky streaks and choppiness over probably as little as just one hour of play. You must be prepared to face such events.
After familiarizing with a few books, taking notes to my own mistakes, I created some rules that I had to follow if I wanted to have any chance of taking home (small) profits in roulette. And it was not until I began following these rules that my game truly improved. Here is what I came up with. I grouped them together and dubbed it “THE NATURAL TENDENCY PARADOX:”

  •    Play even money and/or 1:2 bets on a Single Zero wheel if possible
  •    Never increase the stakes if you lose.
  •    Don’t panic when you are losing. This is a cause compulsive betting. Try to be patient. Because of natural laws, one or  two trends will begin to take shape shortly - No pressing until it does. (Rule number 5 will protect you if it doesn’t.)
  •    You must press when you win! This is your only chance! Sadly, it’s probably the hardest rule to follow.
  •    Don’t get caught into continuum. Take several 10-15 minute breaks but never break when you’re winning. Decide on loss limits and win limits. Leave the game when its time.

The 8 Key Decisions of each Casino Session

March 03, 2008

If you’re flat betting, that is betting the same amount on the casino’s even money bets: every hand of blackjack, roll of the dice (pass line), or spin of the wheel, you are satisfied by winning more bets than you lose.
If you’re changing the size of your bet, you are successful by knowing when you enter the advantage arena and when to raise your bet.

Learn about these 8 crucial choices which you make in each of the casino sessions, and you will make a step forward on your way towards having an edge every time you play.
Managing your time and money are the keys for rising to the advantage arena, for remaining there, and for any possible short-term method to a potential winning in a casino session.
I like to present this idea as 8 decisions that you make when you start each casino session.
Making these decisions will create the discipline that the majority of gamblers lack, but most winning players have - the discipline to Get The Edge!
They are:
* Decision 1:  Whether you want to play or not
* Decision 2:  Which game you want to play
* Decision 3:  Which casino to play
* Decision 4:  Which table to choose
* Decision 5:  Betting unit size and tactics for increasing the bet
* Decision 6:  When to leave the table
* Decision 7:  When to leave the casino
* Decision 8:  When to terminate the casino session
Taken together, these eight decisions create a Plan Of Action for your casino trip (if  you’re traveling to a remote location such as Las Vegas) and your casino sessions.
You should ponder on each of them before leaving home and/or before each session, and write down your thoughts on each decision you make.

Popular Backgammon Guidelines

January 30, 2008

Backgammon has always been widely popular. It’ a fascinating game in which skilfulness is essential. Simply memorizing the rules isn’t enough to win. Deciding on a good strategy and lots of practice will help you greatly. Although the rules are simple, luck makes the game truly exciting.
Besides a great deal of luck and much skills, a few winning hints won’t hurt. Therefore, here are some useful backgammon guidelines that will certainly increase your chances to be successfull at this game.
Firstly, it is essential to know that backgammon is a game based on skills, strategy and luck. You have to be aware that risk in necessary in order to win. Playing safe all the time is a bad idea.
Another important thing, particularly when you are behind in the game and you are waiting for a good throw to develop your position on the board, the optimal strategy is to hit your opponent. If you find yourself in such circumstances try to arrange your checkers in your home part of the board in order to be prepared for the checkers of your opponent from the bar.
Knowledge about the most important points on the bar is crucial in backgammon. These points are the 4th and the 5th on every side of the board. Combat for these points and try to hold them early in the game.
When are ahead in the game, the best choice is to race as fast as you can. Begin running for your home board but be wary not to give your opponent the opportunity to hit your checkers. Try not to be hasty, think it over and make your move. Indeed, this game is some kind of race but is not a race against time. No one will really shout at you if you take some time to think on your next move.
